The Ultimate Puppy Daily Schedule
July 27, 2026
A sample daily routine built around sleep, potty, play, and training for puppies 8–16 weeks.
The Ultimate Puppy Daily Schedule
Puppies thrive on predictability. A consistent routine reduces accidents, prevents overtired biting meltdowns, and builds trust. Use this sample schedule as a template and adjust to your puppy's age and your lifestyle.
The Golden Rule: 1 Up, 2 Down
For every 1 hour awake, your puppy needs roughly 2 hours asleep. An overtired puppy becomes a biting landshark. Enforced naps in the crate are a kindness, not a punishment.
Sample Schedule
6:30 AM — Wake up, immediate potty break outside. Brief, calm play. Breakfast (in a puzzle feeder).
7:00 AM — Short training session (5 minutes): name game, sit, eye contact.
7:15 AM — Potty break, then into crate for nap #1.
9:15 AM — Wake up, potty break, play + socialization (carry walk, gentle handling).
10:00 AM — Nap #2 in crate.
12:00 PM — Wake up, potty, lunch (puzzle feeder), short training.
12:30 PM — Nap #3.
2:30 PM — Wake up, potty, play, chew time.
3:00 PM — Nap #4.
5:00 PM — Wake up, potty, dinner, training.
5:30 PM — Family socialization / calm evening time.
7:00 PM — Final active play, then settle.
8:00 PM — Last potty, quiet chew in crate.
9:00 PM — Bedtime.
Potty Rule of Thumb
Take your puppy out: after waking, after eating, after play, and every 30–45 minutes during awake time.
